Freedom of Information

The Tasmanian Freedom of Information Act 1991 gives people the right to be provided with information held by government agencies, unless the information is exempt from release. Workplace Standards Tasmania receives requests for information concerning dangerous goods sites, accident and incident investigations, workers compensation claims and other information that may be held by Workplace Standards.

You must make your request in writing by letter, fax or email.

Make sure you:

  • include sufficient details to enable Workplace Standards to identify the information you require
  • sign and date your request
  • include a postal address and contact phone number if possible
  • indicate whether you want to receive a copy, or want to simply inspect or hear the information.

Go to link Department of Premier and Cabinet website and search for ‘freedom of information user’s guide’ for fees and charges.
