Amendment to Occupational Licensing (Electrical Work) Determination 2008

In accordance with section 32 of the Occupational Licensing Act 2005, the Administrator has amended the Determination that commenced on 19 January 2009 in relation to classes of electrical licences under the Act, the scope of work that can be undertaken under each licence class, and the eligibility requirements for each licence class.

The amendments are –

Page 2 – Clause 3(3)(a) – delete the word "voltage" and insert instead the word, "fault".

Page 3 – Clause 7(3), first line – delete the word, "also".

Page 3 – Clause 7(3)(c) – delete the reference to "7(2)(b)" and insert instead, "8(2)(b)".

Page 3 – Insert new Clause 7(4) which reads, "An Electrician’s Licence may also be issued to a person who has held a Provisional Electrician’s Licence and has satisfied the Administrator that they have the equivalent of (2) and (3) above".

Page 3 – Clause 8(2)(a) – first line, delete the word, "or".

Page 3 – Clause 8(2)(a) – second line – insert the words, "or electrical fitter" after the word, "mechanic".

Page 3 – Clause 8(2)(b) – insert the words, "as a general electrician" after the word, "Certificate".

Page 6 – Clause 14(2), after "(c)……………..approved by the Administrator" insert the words, ", and must hold, in respect of the relevant water heater, either –

(a) a licence issued under the Act; or

(b) registration as a sanitary plumber or water plumber issued under the Plumbers and Gas-fitters Registration Act 1951."
