Gas Suppliers Licence

Licence Details:

A person who supplies LP Gas in a quantity exceeding 10 kilograms must have a 'gas suppliers licence'.  A supplier of gas is a person who receives LP Gas for distribution or resale in the course of trade or commerce. [Source: Regulation 62 of the Dangerous Goods (General) Regulations 1998)]

Eligibility:

For a person to apply and hold a 'gas suppliers licence' they are also required to hold a 'keepers licence'. That is, a licence issued by Workplace Standards Tasmania to a licensee to keep or store dangerous goods at a particular depot/site location.  An application kit is available that comprises the following:

•  Storage of Dangerous Goods - Part 1 (Application, licensing and exemptions) (IS007)
•  Application form - Dangerous Goods - to construct/alter storage licensable depot - Part 2

Once the application is approved they can apply for a 'keepers licence' with the provided form

•  Application for a Licence to keep Dangerous Goods (Keeper's Licence)

and then apply for a licence to supply with a

•  Gas Suppliers Licence

These licences are mandated under the Dangerous Goods Act 1998.
