Warning – Safe use of Portable LP Gas Appliances

A fatality in Queensland recently, involving a portable LP Gas fueled refrigerator (and 9kg cylinder) being used inside a station wagon, has highlighted the need to read appliance ‘operating instructions’ carefully before they are used. 

Portable LP Gas appliances are quite safe, providing they are used in adequately vented areas, and in accordance with the manufacturers ‘operating instructions’. 

Inadequate ventilation inside the vehicle concerned, resulted in the death of the male occupant, which was later confirmed by the pathologist as carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning.
