Automotive Gasfitter
This certificate of competency is required by persons intending to install, service or repair automotive gas systems in vehicles. Applicants must be a qualified motor or diesel mechanic and have satisfactorily completed an approved course on automotive gas fuel systems conducted by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). This requirement will apply to
- LPG – Liquefied Petroleum Gas
- CNG – Compressed Natural Gas
- LNG – Liquefied Natural Gas
This certification is required under the Workplace Health and Safety Act 1995

As from 1 July 2009, there is a new system in place for those of you who install, repair or service automotive gas fuel systems on forklifts or motor vehicles.
All existing authorisations issued under regulation 60 of the Dangerous Goods (General) Regulations 1998 expired on 30 June 2009.
If you held an authorisation before 30 June 2009, it will no longer be valid and you must contact Workplace Standards Tasmania to apply for a certificate of competency. You can call, email or write to us at the contact details below.
