Plant requiring registration of design

The design of plant identified  in Schedule 9 of the Workplace Health and Safety Regulations 1998 must be registered:

  • Pressure equipment other than pressure piping categorised as hazard level A, B, C or D according to the criteria defined in AS 4343
  • Gas cylinders covered by AS 2030
  • Tower cranes
  • Lifts, including escalators and moving walks
  • Building maintenance units
  • Hoists which have a platform movement in excess of 2.4 metres and support people or are designed to lift people
  • Workboxes suspended from cranes, mine winders, hoists or supported by an industrial fork-lift truck
  • Amusement structures, other than Class 1 structures covered by AS 3533
  • Prefabricated scaffolding
  • Boom-type elevating work platforms
  • Gantry cranes with safe working load exceeding 5.0 tonnes
  • Bridge cranes with a safe working load exceeding 10 tonnes
  • Vehicle hoists
  • Mast-climbing work platforms
  • Mobile cranes with a safe working load exceeding 10.0 tonnes
  • Mines winders
  • Portal boom cranes
  • Any crane or hoist designed to handle molten metal or dangerous goods in an open container
