Evacuation plans

Every workplace should have an evacuation plan developed to ensure that all people at the workplace can be removed efficiently and safely in the event of an emergency.

The evacuation plan should form a fundamental part of the safety management plan for the workplace.

Workplaces which have hazardous substances or dangerous goods on site should consider all eventualities when formulating their plans.

If your workplace is categorised as a major hazard facility, taking into account the classification criteria laid down in the National Standard 'Control of Major Hazard Facilities', then specific attention to emergency planning should be given.
