Dangerous Goods drivers licence
If you intend to drive a vehicle carrying dangerous goods above the prescribed quantities by road in Tasmania, then you must have a dangerous goods driver’s licence in addition to your normal car or truck driver’s licence.
Licence Details:
- This licence is only required by drivers of vehicles conveying dangerous goods by road.
- Licenses are issued for Class 1 (explosives) as defined in the Australian Code for the Transport of Explosives by Road and Rail (AE Code), and Classes 2-9 as defined in the Australian Code for the Transport of Dangerous Goods by Road and Rail (ADG Code).
- Bulk is defined in the AE and ADG Codes.
- Vehicles carrying dangerous goods must comply with the requirements of the AE and ADG Codes.
- Duration of licence is up to 5 years
Eligibility:
Applicants must:
- Have a current Drivers licence
- Satisfy medical criteria
- Successfully complete a recognised driver training course
- Have evidence of a good driving record
