The Tasmanian Plumbing Code (TPC) contains performance based technical provisions for the design and construction of plumbing installations. The TPC covers matters such as water services, sanitary plumbing and drainage, stormwater drainage, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning and water and energy efficiency as well as plumbing product authorisation. The Building Act 2000 references the Tasmanian Plumbing Code (TPC) as the technical standard for all plumbing work in Tasmania. The TPC adopts the Plumbing Code of Australia (PCA) and provides for Tasmanian variations and additional provisions.
The Plumbing Code of Australia (PCA) forms part of the National Construction Code Serries (the NCC). The NCC is produced by the the Australian Building Codes Board and comes in three volumes. The PCA forms Volume Three of the NCC serries.
As like the TPC Volume 3 of the NCC sets out performance based technical provisions for the design, construction, installation, replacement, repair, alteration and maintenance of plumbing and drainage installations throughout Australia. It also sets out the requirements for the use of materials and products in plumbing and drainage installations and defines the processes for the certification and authorisation of materials and products that require statutory authorisation to enable their use in plumbing and drainage installations.
The NCC is produced annually and
The NCC is available in three formats, a web based version, a CD version and a hard bound book. Hard copies of the NCC can be viewed at main council offices and at State Library of Tasmania city libraries.
