Prescribed work

Schedule 2 of the Act broadly outlines the work in each occupation that can only be done by licensed persons in each occupation. The regulations give further guidance on prescribed work.

Prescribed work only to be undertaken within area of competence

Failure to perform prescribed work in accordance with the Act and Regulations is an offence under Section 22(3) of the Act which states,

"A practitioner must ensure that he or she acts only in the area of his or her competence".

Even if you are licensed in a particular occupation, if you are asked to undertake prescribed work with which you are not familiar, you are advised to refer the work to a competent person or seek assistance from someone who has the appropriate knowledge and skills.
