Information sheet on Gratuitous Work (IS107)
Gratuitous work is prescribed work undertaken by licence holders where the work is undertaken without payment or reward and may include work for 'not for profit organisations', family, friends and clubs. Work undertaken for payment or reward is contracting work and requires a Contractor’s Licence.
Gratuitous work can only be undertaken by licence holders who can self-certify their work.

There are other obligations in relation to gratuitous work (these will vary with each occupation) which may include notifying the commencement or completion of 'prescribed work' and the completion of certificates of compliance.
