Australian/New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 3000:2007 : Electrical installations (Wiring rules)

This Standard sets out the minimum requirements for the design, construction and testing of electrical installations, including the selection and installation of electrical equipment forming part of such electrical installations. The requirements are intended to protect persons, livestock and property from electric shock, fire and physical injury hazards that may arise from an electrical installation that is used with reasonable care and with due regard to the intended purpose of the electrical installation.

Wiring Rules Related Standards

Standards additional to the use of AS/NZS 3000:2007 for particular circumstances.

The Standards listed below detail variations and additional requirements that apply to the use of AS/NZS 3000 in particular circumstances.

AS/NZS 3001: Electrical installations - Relocatable premises

Specifies requirements, in addition to those of AS/NZS 3000:2007, for electrical installations in relocatable premises, including caravans and tents, and in caravan parks and camping areas.

AS/NZS 3002: Electrical installations - Shows and carnivals

Specifies requirements, in addition to those of AS/NZS 3000, for electrical installations for electricity supply and wiring for temporary structures used for entertainment or display and with shows and carnivals.

AS/NZS 3004: Electrical installations - Marinas and pleasure craft at low-voltage

Sets out requirements for the internal electrical installation on board pleasure craft intended for connection to low-voltage a.c. supply systems and for electrical installations in marinas to supply electricity to those craft.

AS/NZS 3012: Electrical installations - Construction and demolition sites

Sets out requirements for electrical installations which supply electricity to equipment on construction and demolition sites. Includes requirements for the inspection and testing of electrical equipment used on building construction sites.

AS/NZS 3017: Electrical installations - Testing and inspection guidelines

Provides testing procedures to ensure that an electrical installation complies with the requirements of AS/NZS 3000 with regard to the prevention of a fire or preventing a person from receiving an electric shock.

AS/NZS 3018: Electrical installations - Domestic installations

Specifies requirements and suitable methods for installing electrical installations in domestic premises including alterations, additions and repairs.

AS/NZS 3019: Electrical installations - Periodic verification

Sets out the requirements for periodic verification of existing electrical installations which are connected to a low voltage a.c. supply system. Verification, by inspection and/or testing is intended, as far as practicable, to determine whether the installation and all its constituent equipment is in a safe condition for continued use.
