Following the introduction of the natural gas pipeline into Tasmania, together with the Basslink electricity inter-connector project, a number of industry stakeholders identified a need for the development of an electrolysis committee.
Electrolysis committees exist in other states and have done for a number of years.
The primary object of the Tasmanian Electrolysis Committee is to provide a forum for consultants, utilities and owners of cathodic protection systems to openly discuss existing and proposed cathodic protection systems in an effort to identify potential interactive issues.
Committee membership is made up of various industry stakeholders including Aurora Energy, Hydro Tasmania, Transend, Esk Water, Cradle Coast Water, Hobart Water, Power Co, Hobart Ports and Electricity Standards and Safety.
If your organisation would benefit from being a member of the committee or you have any issues relating to cathodic protection systems or electrolysis in general, please contact Electricity Standards and Safety as below.
