  • Demonstration of relevant on-the-job experience.

Applicants who hold the necessary qualification/experience may not be required to undertake the licensing assessment.

  • Plumbing and gas fitting equipment
  • Commercial equipment
  • Industrial equipment
  • Refrigeration &/or airconditioning
  • Instrumentation and process control equipment
  • Communication/computing equipment

  • Pay the prescribed fee
  • If applying for a restricted licence in the refrigeration &/or air conditioning category an additional work experience sheet needs to be completed by your employer

A restricted electrician's licence is valid for 36 months and may be renewed.

Mutual recognition of occupational licences

From February 2007, new arrangements have been put in place making it easier for licensed tradespeople, and authorities that issue licences, to know what licence a worker is entitled to when applying for a licence in another jurisdiction. Use link above for more information on mutual recognition.
