Building owners must maintain any essential health and safety features of their building and any essential safety and health measure necessary to ensure the safety of everyone using their building.
An owner must also keep records of when the maintenance or inspection of each safety feature or measure took place and by whom.
An owner must publicly display an annual statement (also called a Form 56) certifying that the features and measures have been assessed by appropriately qualified person(s) and are performing to a standard to which they were originally designed. This must be displayed near the entrance e.g. near reception or in a similar prominent position in the building.
